i-Dragon Restaurant

Charmaine, Linc and I went to 1-Utama yesterday as we all needed to do Christmas shopping. Not much time remaining. Decided to try this new place called i-Dragon. Apparently it is a copycat of this place called Crystal Jade. So this i-Dragon place serves chinese food, noodles and dishes a bit like Kim Gary and Wong Kok Char Chan Teng. They also serve some dim sum dishes which apparently is very nice. Iin a way this place is a more upmarket/expensive version of Wong Kok.

There we were,at the expensive place, sat down and ordered a bowl of Spicy Beef Noodle, a fried rice, a dish like Hot Plate Tofu and one of the apparently nice dim sum (excuse me for not remembering the exact names of the dishes). The dishes arrived, portions were small. Fried rice for RM 12, Beef noodle for RM 14, Tofu for RM 16 and the dim sum for RM 8. Chinese tea costs RM 2 a cup and water costs RM 1 a cup.

Just for the 3 of us the bill came up to about RM 62.00. Imagine that….. and i did not feel satisfied with the meal. I mean if I go for a meal at TGI Fridays or Chilli’s at Bangsar, the meals there are bloody expensive but i don’t feel like i’ve been ripped off when i pay the bill. I’ll say the bill is expensive but i don’t feel like i’ve been ripped off. Don’t know if you all know what i’m talking about but that’s what i’m trying to say. I can go and have a Caeser Salad at Chilli’s for RM 20 and i won’t feel cheated. Maybe i’m old fashioned and don’t fancy paying RM 12 for a minuscule plate of fried rice, maybe i went in with high or too high an expectation. Afterall I’m the kinda guy who can just live with eating fried rice, wantan noodles everyday for lunch. Taste wise, i-Dragon food is ok but nothing to shout about.

So, will i go eat there again? DEFINITELY NOT! I’d rather go get a bun from the nearby bakery!

This is the new place next to Vietnam Kitchen right? With the dimsum chefs on display in at the main entrance. WL and I wanted to try it the other day but gave it a pass. I don’t even know the name of the place cause I couldn’t find the damn sign. All I saw were lots of banners saying “He has arrived…”

i totally agree with shannon’s view!!!! i believe there is another outlet at mid valley. the last time mei lee and I tried, we had beef noodle and steam dumpling and another dish. the bill was RM60!!!! really gave me a shock!!! we think the food is not too bad but the price is not meant for us… with RM30… I can have buffet lunch at most of the hotels!!!!

Well..same here. We went there (mid velley’s outlet ) and ordered the man-tau. Menu showed 2 man-taus for RM6. But when served..only 1 pathetic plain small little man-tau….we were furious ! And when we ate it, it tasted just like the frozen man-tau, which u can get at least 2 packets with 6pc each in it by paying RM6 at any supermarket….

After perhaps a year, we went to the new outlet in Sunway, and surprisingly it’s no better than the mid valley’s. Apparently, they always runs out of one of the dim sums ( some buns with red bean paste & banana ). And they will only let you know that they are running out of the buns at the end of your meal; like you have been waiting for 20 minutes & you asked and they would say checking , then they would come back & said..” Sorry ah, no more.”

HHmmm…but I just wonder why this restaurant is always packed with customers.
