Sing Song Project Part 2: Production

After much dilly dallying, we finally got off our backsides and put in the effort to actually produce something for the Sing Song For Christmas Project. Here’s what happened.

WL and I were sitting in front of the computer at her place between 10pm and midnight trying to get the recording done. We started out by listening to the music (which you can download from this site). Its a bluesie, jazzy type of tune that I’m not used to. I’m more of a traditionalist White Christmas type of guy. Anyway, after some practice, we thought we were ready to get the show on the road. I think this sample here explains best what we were trying to do…

After trying for an hour, we still had nothing to show for it. There were all sorts of distractions and interuptions. However, several falsestarts (for example this and this) later, we finally managed to come produce two reasonably good recordings. The first was a solo by WL and the second a duet between the two of us. At that point, it was getting late and we called it a day.

Fast forward to today. While I was waiting for the spin cycle of the washing machine, I decided to give a go at recording my own solo rendition of the song (I think I might have killed it but who knows). So in total, we now have three recordings to submit to Lin Peh’s project. Good leh :)

I think the following clips best sum up the entire recording and production process:

So without further ado, I present to you the final results in all its stereo glory:

Once again, for all you people out there in the blogosphere, point your browsers on over to Lin Peh’s project page and sing your hearts out for a worthy cause. To all Boredworkers, please do sing too and add your voice to this wondrous Christmas production. Stand aside Malaysian Idols and get ready for the grand audio invasion. gbyeow out.

Which one? Have to be more specific (there are eight on this page). I tested them when I posted and it works for me. One of them is actually very short.
