Game Of The Year (GotY) 2005

A friend of mind brought up a very good point two weeks back. Having gone through the trouble to put up a new GotW every week, did I have any plans for a game of the year? I had given it some thought but was still at a lost for words… kinda. The reason being that I didn’t really know how to approach the subject. After giving it even more thought, I decided that I would go ahead and select one of the previously reviewed games and upsize it to GotY. Frankly, that wasn’t as easy as it sounds.

Deciding to choose one game out of many is one thing. Actually choosing the game is a whole different story. I’ve played them all and, for the most part, enjoyed the experience. Otherwise, I would never have recommended it to anyone. So how then should I go about choosing the best among the best?

I initially thought that I would put it up for a vote. A rating system, so to speak, for the various games that have been reviewed. Or maybe keep track of the number of page views and downloads for each game. But then it struck me that the results might be skewed towards games that were reviewed first since they would have received more exposure. That was obvously an unfair statistics. The fact that I was too lazy to cook up a rating system for GotW didn’t help matters any.

Anyway, I finally decided that I would select the game that I enjoyed the most. And that game will have a featured spot on Boredworkers.com’s GotW for a month (maybe more if I am too lazy to take it down). So without further ado, let me introduce to you 2005’s GotY… (drumroll)… Chuzzle Deluxe.

It was not an easy choice. Much barin matter was sacrificed in making the decision. Towards the end, it boiled down to a showdown between Chuzzle Deluxe and Insaniquarium Deluxe. After playing both games again for a long long while, I finally decided to go with Chuzzle. So there, it is done. Go download it, play it, buy it, play it somemore, and have fun. Until next year (and boy what a year it will be!), GotW signing out!
