Signs are probably the least effective methods of educating the public. More often than not, they are ignored. In fact, the opposite of the desired effect happens. When people see no parking signs, they’ll want to park at that location even more. See a speed limit sign and you’re bound to go over. Ever seen a do not litter sign under which there isn’t a huge pile of rubbish? Put up a do not disturb sign on any popular instant messanging (IM) platform and you’re likely to receive buzzes in quick succession. So what do you expect when you see a no smoking sign?

I was at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) 1-Utama yesterday (this morning) to catch a midnight movie with my cousins. As far as interesting experiences go, this one takes the cake.

Last week, my colleagues and I went to Hakka Restaurant for a farewell cum Chinese New Year luncheon. There were fifteen of us (sixteen originally including my boss but he decided not to go). We arrived at 12.30 pm and found our tables ready for us.

Yesterday morning, I got a call from a colleague asking a favour to switchover a server. I decided to help him out one last time before I left. Besides, it was time for me to clear out my desk and remove my belongings from the office. I had done my packing a few days earlier. After the dust had settled, I was left with a single box full of miscellaneous items and a dustbin full of waste.

Last weekend I was in Genting Highlands for work. Happy Valley Restaurant used to be a favourite haunt of my ex-manager but it has been a while since we last ate there (nearly a year now since his resignation). For want of a better choice, we decided to head over to Theme Park Hotel where the restaurant was located. Boy did we regret it.

With the continued growth of internet banking and the introduction of more self service kiosks, it was announced that banks will implement a five day week come 1st February 2006. However, banks still have the option to open on Saturdays if they so choose to. This is good news to some and bad news to others.

When I called earlier to enquire about the condition of my camera, they told me that the parts were being ordered and that I had to wait a week before it arrived. What I don’t understand is how ‘a week’ turned into less than ‘a day’ later when they called me to confirm the cost to repair my trusty PowerShot A75. Apparently, the PCB connector needed replacing and it was going to cost me RM100.00 for the parts. There goes my hopes of getting a free replacement camera. It gave me the feeling that I was being fleeced. I called them to confirm the repair and told them to go ahead with it. Nothing else I can do, considering the situation. The main thing was that I wanted my camera back before Chinese New Year.
