Ho Chi Minh City

Well I’ve been to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) about 8 times throughout the past 2 years, and it has certainly been a pretty fun trip everytime I go. The reason why I’ve been frequenting this unique city is for work. I currently work for a Market Research Company , and I will normally go to Vietnam on a quarterly basis to conduct my quarterly research ( NO NOT TO SEE MY WIFE .. .as many have hinted. And no.. i don’t have a catalogue of wifes to choose from !! )

This time, it was a rather unique experience, as is most likely the last time I shall return to HCMC for work , at least in the near term future. In the past, I’ve always enjoyed my trip there, and this time was no different. However, this time round i did have the good fortune of having my Vietnamese colleagues to bring me around HCMC. Although we were very caught up with work, ending about 10 pm everynight, we did have opportunity to enjoy a couple of good dinners while I was there.

For the purpose of this blog, I’ll write up the reviews of certain restaurants and places I went in different blogs.

On our first night, we had dinner in a restaurant just behind the Renaissance Hotel. This restaurant is quite popular amongst the locals as well as foreigners, and it’s specialty is actually home cooked food. The food served here are uniquely those that are commonly found in Vietnamese homes. The authencity is obviously valid, and the food was neither oily nor filled with MSG.

While most of the staffs does not speak English, it is a decently runned airconditioned restaurant. It has 2 stories, with the 2nd storey being the bigger dining area. This is also one of the few places in Vietnam that accepts Credit cards i.e. Visa and Mastercard

Prices for this restaurant is slightly pricey for the average vietnamese although affordable for Tourist and Businessman. A simple lunch for 2, with Fried noodles, Mince Pork over Grilled Egg plant , Drinks and Rice came up to about USD$8.

I apologise that I do not have any photos of this restaurant, as I neglected to take any photos. However here is the address of the restaurant should you wish to try it when you are there.
