GotW: GameHouse Super TextTwist
I’ve delayed this one for long enough. With all the reunion lunch and dinners, parties, and house visitings happening over Chinese New Year, I really couldn’t find much time to play games, much less write a review on one. However, to prove my dedication to the cause, coming to you after much delay, here’s the Game of the Week, GameHouse’s Super TextTwist.
I remember playing TextTwist a few years back on Yahoo! games. This offering by GameHouse is a standalone version that you can download, install on your computer, and play whenever you feel the urge for it without the need for an internet connection (except for the initial download of course).
The game play is simple and should be familiar to anyone who has every played Boggle. You’re givien a set of up to eight (8) alphabets. The aim is to create as many words as possible using the available letters.
There are two game modes, Puzzle Mode (Untimed)/strong> and Action Mode (Timed). There is only one difference between the two modes, and that is the timer.
In Puzzle mode, you don’t have a time limit and you can work the puzzle at a leisurely pace. The absense of a timer is perfect for when you’re stuck in the office with little to do. You can leave the game running in the background and return to it whenever you have some free time on your hands.
In Action mode, you are given a set amount of time to put together as many words as possible. With the clock ticking down, you’ll feel a sense of urgency as you crack your brain and frenziedly click on the letters to form the words.
To proceed to the next level in both game modes, you’ll need to create at least one word using ALL the letters provided for that level. Once you do so, you can either move on immediately by clicking the Next Round button or you can choose to stick around and try to solve the puzzle by finding all the words.
There’s a Twist options available to help you when you’re stuck. Clicking it will mix the characters up. This is a two edged sword. While it may shed some new light on the set and help you find more words (and more importantly the password), it may also confuse you further as the letters get jumbled up. Don’t click it too often or else you’ll become crosseyed trying to keep up with the change.
Here’s a tip for you. Plural and past tense counts as words too! So if you need to repeat the last word that you played, you can use the Last Word button. This feature comes in handy when you want to create new words based on the previous word. The Clear will remove any partially formed words on the playing board.
That’s all the features of the game in a nutshell. It is really a very simple game. The fun is in challenging your vocabulary. To help you challenge it further, refer to Boredworkers.com’s Game of the Week for the recommended downloads and follow the following instructions:
- Download both recommended files.
- Install Super TextTwist.
- Uncompress the crack archive.
- Inside the archive is a registry file named ‘TextTwist_2.2.4.1_Crack_By_keith_escalade.reg’. Double click it to create the necessary registry entries.
- Run the game and have some text twisting fun.
Now that you know how to do it, go ahead and have some fun with words.
