Common Sense No Enough
There are people in this world who can’t help being stupid. They were born that way (no offence intended). Then there are those who work in the Kementerian Kerja Raya (or Ministry of Works and best friends of Sammi Velu). I got home from Mid Valley only minutes ago. A journey that would have normally taken me five minutes was prolonged to an agonising hour long crawl. The culprits were some fools resurfacing the roads during rush hour.
Now to begin with, IMHO, the roads were perfectly fine and didn’t need resurfacing. It didn’t need people digging it up and make it worse. However, that seems to be a favourite pass time of the people in charge of road works, water, energy, and telecommunications. Its probably the only way to justify their existance. It is as though the powers that be enjoy walking around with their dicks up their ass thinking, “Gee, here’s a perfectly good road. Lets see which one of us can dig it up worse!”.
10.00 pm is the time that most shopping complexes close for the night. It is also the time when those who work late in the office decide to go home. It is only logical that there be a sudden rise in traffic volume during these hours. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that closing a major highway to resurface the roads is going to cause massive jams. And yet, the idiots in the ministry approve it anyway.
Probably the worse part about it is that the the roads are closed without proper detour signage or warning. They just drop their orange cones along the mouth of the road and think that it is sufficient. The sections that they closed included the outlet road from Mid Valley that joins back to Jalan Syed Putra, two lanes on Jalan Syed Putra, and (get this) the sections right in front of the flyover turnoff to Old Klang Road AND Seremban Highway. In other words, they closed the roads heading into Old Klang Road from Jalan Syed Putra.
If there had been proper signage and information about which sections were being closed, drivers could have at least taken evasive action to avoid the roads and contributing to the overall mess. Think about it. Why force drivers coming out of Mid Valley and heading to Old Klang Road to take a detour, make a U-turn and head back down a road that was CLOSED!? There is absolutely no logic in doing so. If there had been sufficient warning, these drivers could have taken the turnoff to Petaling Jaya and made a U-turn at Kampung Kerinchi instead!
And why close the roads ‘early’ when they are going to just leave the equipment and vehicles parked by the road side? There was absolutely no activity going on as I passed the stretch of road on Syed Putra. All that was happening was more cone dropping. Talk about inefficiency and taking stupidity to a whole new level. Why not just close the roads at 5.00pm while you’re at it and head out for dinner?
Come on people. Stop spanking the monkey and put your brains in gear before approving road works to be carried out. Some common sense would have saved many people alot of grief, time, money, and energy that could be better spent elsewhere.

MALAYSIA BOLEH mah….
So :
1. JKR boleh tutup jalan bila dia mahu.
2. JKR boleh korek jalan bila dia mahu.
3. JKR boleh korek dan jangan tutup lubang bila dia mahu.
They are so skillful that they manage to make Jalan Kapas near my office in bangsar superbly uneven. It was really fine and smooth to start with. Then DBKL clowns comes in every morning, put a 2×2 meter patch every morning for the next 2 weeks!
And believe it or not the residents in my area have a very very very strong suspicion that they somehow manage to put the speedbumps in my houseing area on the wrong bound of the dual carriageway.

Quite typical I suppose.
Best still is our water, electricity, telecoms, and road works. Four seperate private/government entities. All four don’t know how to communicate. They just love to lay down a road nice and smooth, then get someone to dig it up so they can lay the damn electric cables. And then later again dig it up so can lay the water pipes. While they are at it, sure kena power cut because they dig until cut the power cables. Nevermind, patch it up and resurface the road. The along comes the telecoms people who dig up the same bloody spot and cause power outage AND burst water pipe. Patch things up and go on their way. Now the road is no longer smooth, has a weakened water pipe underneath that bursts from time to time, flooding water into the power and telecom cables. The weakened road structure from constant digging, shoddy repairs, and water damage as well as the land finally settling down causes the road surface to sink and split eventually creating potholes that have the potential to swallow a freaking car!
Boleh jalan, boleh lah. Doesn’t matter that its a hazard. And here we are wondering sometimes why there are so many unfortunate accidents. Half of it probably attributed to poor roadworks, planning, and infrastructure.
