GotW: QBeez 2

Its Sunday today. Some consider this to be the last day of the week while others consider it to be the first. Since I consider it a weekend, that still leaves me time to squeeze in the Game of the Week. I had intentions to go retro and review some classics but after scratching around for a bit, I found that they didn’t really hold much appeal for me. So I went with QBeez 2 by GameHouse instead. Time’s tight, so I’ll keep this short.

In exchange for your bandwidth, you get a pretty solid game. Graphics are so so with some cute adorable animations. The cut-scenes are, in the words of Simon Cowell, appalling. But that does not detract from the fun that one might draw from the game.

Game play is simple enough. The game screen consists of a grid of coloured blocks. Click on groups of at least two blocks of the same colour to clear them. The objective is to clear enough blocks to complete the level. Clearing a larger number of blocks in a single move will obviously gain you more points.

There are three game modes available:

  • Q’s Quest is a series of twelve stages, each consisting of five mini levels. Each stage will introduce a new element of game play (e.g. new power block). To complete a level and move to the next, you need to clear at least 95% of the blocks in the game area.
  • Classic mode as the name suggests is the classic QBeez game play. Options include endless games, score, and so on so forth.
  • Puzzle mode puts forth a series of puzzling and challenging constructs. You’ll have to keep your wits about you to clear them all.

There are twelve different power blocks to help you clear screen. Use them well. Playing Q’s Quest is the fastest way to discover all the power ups and their usage.

To get some extra juice out of the game, refer to Boredworkers.com’s GotW for the recommended downloads and then do thus:

  • Download both recommended files.
  • Install QBeez 2.
  • Locate ‘crack.zip’ inside the crack archive.
  • Uncompress the contents of the crack folder to the installation directory.
  • Startup the game and have some QBeez fun.

So be quick about it and QBeez 2 your way through some blocks and while away those boring hours.
