MAS Travel Fair 2006 Extended!

MAS has decided to extend its travel fair. The fair which is initially set to end on 26 February 2006 has been extended to 01 March 2006.

Why are they extending? My guess is simply to get more sales. There’s really no other reason for it to be extended otherwise. The infrastructure is already in place and running the online fair for a few more days does not hurt anyone’s coffers (except the consumers’ mayhaps).

Anyway, in case you thought you’ve missed out on the fair, well you haven’t really. You still have until Wednesday (1 March 2006, 3 more days) to decide on your destination and make your reservations. You can do so via the official website (for flight tickets only), or MAS’s call centres and participating travel agents (for flights and golden holiday packages).

I suppose this is one of the advantages of holding the fair online and without a venue. You can theoretically keep extending it for an indefinite period so long as it is profitable to do so. Who knows, we may yet see an extension of an extension until MATTA-MITM starts :S

Personally speaking, I think its in bad form for MAS to keep extending. But its one of those marketting things. When you extend, people tend to pay a little more attention. So who knows. Open for side bets. Who says they’ll put up another extension after 1 March 2006?
