Are Saisaki And Shogun The Same?
Alright, the word is that Shogun Japanese Buffet Restaurant and Restoran Saisaki Japanese Buffet are owned by the same company. I’ve been asked on several occasions whether this is true or not. There are alot of similiarities between the two restaurants, so its only a natural question to ask. Since I have some free time on my hands, I figure it is time to demystify this question and shed some light on the issue.
is this Shogun same company with Saisaki ?

The answer to that question is YES, plain and simple. They are both owned by the same company. Just in case you’re wondering why you should trust me on this one, here’s how I know.
Since I was just from Shogun last weekend, I still have one of their business cards. It states there that it is wholly owned by Y & E Jung Sdn. Bhd. Unfortunately, I did not retain Saisaki’s business card so I wasn’t able to confirm the ownership. While searching creatively online will yield some information about Saisaki, it neither confirms nor debunks the fact that they are under the same management. This site puts Saisaki under the ownership a Young Eun Sdn. Bhd. Young Eun = Y & E?
Five minutes in, I realised that my (rather extensive) google skills were sending me on wild goose chases which eventually led to dead ends. Abandoning that avenue, I decided to take a more direct approach. Call them up and ask. I dialed Saisaki’s number and the first five words of the conversation was all it took to solve the mystery. Here’s the very short and informative conversation I had:
Saisaki: Hello. Shogun Japanese Buffet Restaurant 1-Utama. How may I help you?
Me: Hi. Shogun? I’m sorry, I must have gotten the wrong number. I was looking for Saisaki.
Saisaki @ Shogun: No. This is Shogun. We’re a branch of Saisaki.
Me: I see. So you’re under the same management? (me going to great lengths to get 100% confirmation).
Saisaki @ Shogun: Yes, we’re the same company.
Me: Oh, in that case, I was actually wondering whether Saisaki will be open today cause I’m in town and was thinking of having lunch there.
Saisaki @ Shogun: Saisaki in UOA is under renovation at the moment. So all calls are being forward to us here at Shogun. Saisaki will reopen around April or May.
Me: So you guys are Shogun at… 1-Utama, was it?
Saisaki @ Shogun: Yes.
Me: Oh alright. Thank you very much.
Saisaki @ Shogun: You’re welcome.

So there you have it. Straight from the horses mouth. They are indeed, one and the same. ‘Nuf said.
Side notes:
On a side note, for those of you who want to go to Saisaki, according to the conversation above, they’ll be closed for another month or two. Patience is a virtue, or you can just head out to Shogun @ 1U. Since they are the same company, it makes me wonder why Shogun doesn’t have that nifty green tea ice cream X-(
Yes, they are under the same management.

I been to both Saisaiki and Shogun and even though they are from the same company. Saisaki somehow taste better and has more choices. I guess if the company wants to brand a different name i’m sure there are somethings that are different from the other one.
G: I agree. I prefer Saisaki to Shogun.
