Efficiency!

I filed my taxes a week back. A week prior, I sent an email to LHDN asking them a question regarding e-Filing and the Borang BE that comes with their software. Basically, I wanted to know whether I could submit a printed copy of the electronic form. I later called their hotline and got my answer, although the lady at the other hand sounded rather unpleasant as though I was bugging her over some trivial matter that was not worth their time. Anyway, after a fortnight, I finally received a response to my initial email!

Dear Mr. <Me>

Thanks for the email.
Pertaining your enquiry below. Yes, you may print out the e_Filing form for submission.

Thank you.

Good day,

Regarding the Borang BE, I don’t have the official Borang BE.
Is is ok for me to fill in the e-Filing form and submit a printed copy?
Or must I get an official copy from the closest LHDN office?

Thanks,
<Me>

Talk about efficiency. It took them all of 2 weeks to get back to me. Perhaps they were swamped with emails regarding their new e-Filing procedures. Perhaps they should set up an FAQ section so as to avoid answering the same silly questions (like the one I asked) over and over again.

But that’s besides the point. The real point is that this confirms once and for all that the printed copy of the electronic form can be used. Although come to think of it, I had the hotline confirmation and have already submitted my forms which, really, should be all the confirmation anyone needs, shouldn’t it? At least they didn’t decide to respond to me a week after the deadline. That would be something, eh?

    2 weeks? They are just wasting time replying these emails.. most people will do as you did, contacting them by phone after just a few days without email reply.

    Yes they are wasting their time. If there is an alternative to finding the information and it takes any more than a day (or two at most) to reply, then don’t even bother. Most people will take the alternative. However, they must respond. Otherwise, it will be a reason for consumers to kick their ass. But then again, responding that late, they’ll get a kicking anyway.
