Of Inactivity, Updates, And Extended Hiatus

Over the past week, I’ve been questioned about the site’s lack of activity of late. It is obvious that I haven’t been updating the site for a while. This is especially evident when compared against the early highs of 2006. I suppose I owe myself and everyone who is curious an explanation. So here it is, along with some thoughts and whatever else that might fit into a single posting.

Inactivity
First off, I have not been updating not because I’ve lost interest in maintaining the site, nor am I commiting blogcide. Far from it. I have some ideas floating around at the back of my mind for improving this place that I call a virtual home. While some of the ideas and improvements I have in mind may seem interesting on virtual paper, it takes time to put in place and implement. Time which I have in short supply at the moment. And it is this lack of time (or perhaps simply bad time management on my part), that is holding me back from doing more.

However, for those who may care, rest assured that I will continue to make updates and publish posts on news of interests as and when the opportunity arises.

Updates
On a personal note, one might ask what it is that’s been keeping me busy and what’s new in life? Well, work is the biggest culprit of the lot that’s chewing up chunks of my free time. While the new work environment has been laid back and alot easier than my previous employment, it does not mean that I have all the time in the world to do whatever it is that I wish to do. No, I have sold my time to the company and as such, I am commited to perform my duties as an employee. While I still do get bored at work, those low periods do not occur as frequently as they used to. Bored worker = Boredworkers.com update. No bored worker = zip, nada, nothing.

Number two on the list of things chewing up my time Warcraft III - The Frozen Throne. Some might be thinking, what the heck? That’s a freaking old game. Well, some ex-colleagues and I are discovering the wonders of custom maps and DotA (Defence of the Ancients) on Blue Server. One particular custom map that has drawn my interest more than others is Dawn of the Dead. So if you see me on BS3, you’ll probably find me hosting some game titled DotD (Round x) <time> or other. Send a shout out my way.

Last but not least, some of you may already know that I’ve been in a couple accidents. If you’re reading this, do keep it to yourself. Its not exactly a topic that I want to discuss over dinner or coffee. But if you are curious as to the nitty gritty details, here they are.

The first one involved a big assed trailer, a Kancil, emergency brakes, and the safety railing on a divider. A Kancil cut out in front of me to overtake a slow moving trailer. I hit the emergency brakes which slowed the cars unevenly causing it to swerve to the left. I overcompensated and contributed to a deeper dent in the guard rail along the Sungai Besi highway. End result was a broken signal light, crumpled front side, and a long scratch running the length of the car on the right side.

Accident number two happend 5 days later AFTER I repaired the car. I sort of dozed off at the wheel during rush hour traffic and the car slid to a crunching halt on the backside of a brand new Gen 2. End result, the same broken signal light and the same freaking dent on the same blardy side of the car that I JUST HAD REPAIRED. So obviously the tale of two accidents do not sit very well with me and it would be best if I do not discuss it further lest I burst a vein or something.

On a side note, everything is fixed, except that the bumper is hanging lower than it should and seems a little lopsided. If you know my car plate number, now might be a good time to invest in your favourite 4D or jackpot of choice. If you’re curious, no it did not win anyone any prizes on the weekend draws. But who knows. You might get lucky on the next one.

Extended Hiatus
Enough on updates. On to the future. I shall be on an extended hiatus. I am on vacation! You read that right. I shall be away on a long extended holiday starting this weekend and shall not return until I feel it is time for me to come back. So NYEH to those of you who have to work while I lazy around on a deck chair sipping on a ice cold coconut. Enjoy your office space and have fun keeping the local economy going while I splurge somewhere and contribute to some far flung country’s travel industry.

Yes, I am being particularly mean about it and rubbing it in your faces. That’s my right and duty to do so. It gives you cause to take holidays of your own and rub it back in my face. In other words, I am now encouraging you not to work so hard but instead to think of locations to vacation to and report back to us. So get cracking. Where do you want to go on vacation next? I would love to hear about those dream spots and perhaps steal some of your ideas in the meantime.

Until next time, adieu and happy holidays :P
