The Great Singapore Sale 2006

Yep. Its that time of the year again. When WL and I were planning our trip earlier, we hadn’t really thought about the Great Singapore Sale 2006 (GSS2006). The reason we were going down to Singapore was because we had taken extra days of leave and had the entire weekend after our Cambodia trip free. WL decided she wanted to bring her parents down to visit an old friend. So it wasn’t until we were arranging for accomodations during MATTA Fair that we realise we were going to miss the grand sale in Singapore by a mere week.

The Great Singapore Sale 2006 will be held from 26th May 2006 through to 23rd July 2006. That’s 60 days of bazaars and carnivals, crazy pushy grabby people, sweaty crowds, and one big shopping extravaganza. I’ve been to a couple in the past years and have managed to secure some items of clothings for my measly wardrobe. So I’m kinda cheesed that I’ll be missing this one by only five days. Call it bad time management and lousy planning. Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20.

Anyway, among other things, the island wide sales features the following:

  • 8 weeks of extended island wide shopping spree
  • Offers and discounts of up to 70%
  • Late Night Shopping:
Shopping hours extended up to 11.00pm and beyond throughout the month of June
  • Mastercard Promotion:
Shoppers stand to win nifty prizes with purchases using Mastercard
  • Great Singapore Shopping Challenge:
Shoppers, both foreign and local, stand the chance to shop for free and win the grand prize of S$10,000!
  • Singapore Showcase:
Inspired by Singaporeans, made in Singapore
  • SPH Promotion:
Win great prizes in the SPH Shop & Win Draw
  • Singapore Arts Festival 2006:
Held in conjunction with the shopping extravaganza from 1st June to 25th June 2006 and features dance, theatre, music and art from the around the world
  • Singapore Food Festival 2006:
Feast your eyes and pamper your taste buds from 30th June to 30th July 2006 during this annual event

Additionally, tourists to Singapore get to enjoy the following extras (bring your passports)!
