BHPetrol… uggggh, what a horrid logo.

Ahhh… I finally found out who is behind that awesomely GARISH orange petrol station logo. Someone told me that BP was being bought over; that someone should have made it clear that it was BP M’sia that was being taken over. Curiousity satisfied, and no, unless I am near running out of gas or dying for a snack, I’m never gonna go near that yucky yellow logo. BTW, I really like the BP logo (not the one with the shield and the capital letters), and I like the fact that they are committed to R&D of alternative fuels. I have never seen any local BP station with the current lowercase/yellow-green flower logo though. Sorry but I really thought BHPetrol was either a cheesy Indian or Russian import based on the bad colours and disgusting logotype - seriously, no offence to our Indian and Russian readers.

Ahh, after surfing a lil’ bit, I found out why BP has such a canggih look & feel & why BHPetrol doesn’t. The former could and did afford the world-class logo designers (technically called ‘corporate identity consultants’) Landor Associates. The latter? Er, I wouldn’t want to label them “kiam siap”, no siree :P BTW, I did a case study on Landor and do you know that before they redesigned FedEx’s logo - okayla, their corporate identity - they had a huge room full of alternative logo designs before the current one was chosen? This corporate identity thing is big business in USA, ok! BTW did you know that there’s actually an arrow (it’s white in colour) between the ‘E’ and the ‘x’? Terror leh, pay these fellas to be so smart smart :)

There’s one along Eastin Hotel. Its been that way for the longest time. And to think that BP only did their rebranding some years back. What a waste of money.

I would support this (no matter how ugly their logo may be) and any other petrol companies with the exception of one.

Yep, that’s the one with the green logo, who practices racist policy by employing 90% of a certain ethnic race and 10% ‘others’.

BP is bought by boustead holding (at jalan raja chulan).
    BP stands for Boustead Petroleum.

Yes.. the ‘B’ in BHP is the same ugly looking ‘B’ in Boustead.

Who actually designed the new logo? And why on earth do they choose that orangey yellowish bright sunny colour with the mismatched letterings…?

Have no idea. They are really having some identity issues at the moment. These people don’t understand the meaning of branding.

As for the ugly lettering, as englee says, the ‘B’ is the same as the parent company’s ‘B’. I suspect the rest is just some random font the lazy designer chose from his crappy collection.
