The Grudge (I Hate Ghost Movies…)

… cause I can’t sleep afterwards. I usually wind up not sleeping very well for a week or two. Yesterday, I watched The Grudge starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fame), an English remake of the Japanese horror movie Ju On and woke up in a sweaty mess this morning.

- The Grudge -

I’m probably going to regret putting up the poster image of the movie above. Had a hard time making myself review the sites to make sure they were the correct ones before linking to them. The fact that I’m all alone in the office at seven in the morning just makes it that much worse.

The thing is, I also watched the original Japanese version of The Grudge and remember every freaking detail. I can damn well recount to you the whole movie from start to finish in all its the graphic details. That and the original version of The Ring (Ringu) as well as a host of other horror movies that I rather not remember, research or link to.

I’m very well aware that I’m just scaring myself but I really can’t help it that I have an active imagination. At this very instant, I’m having flashes of different scenes from all the horror flicks that I’ve been silly enough to have watched over the years. Like that freaky creaking clacking crawling scene from the end of Ju On and that crawling out of the monitor/well scene from Ringu.

Back to Ju On. Having seen both versions of the movie, I found that the original was a lot scarier. Perhaps because I already know what was going to happen next. Either way, both movies are plenty enough to keep me awake at night. It doesn’t help at all that Ju On takes all the things that usually gives you comfort when you’re afraid and turns it into a bloody nightmare. I don’t recommend it for obvious reasons but watch it if you will. Don’t blame me if you can’t sleep later. Or if you’re bored by it for that matter since different people have different tollerance levels.

Ok. I think I’ve had about as much as I can take of this topic. I’m going to go watch a few anime episode to get my mind off things. Hopefully, I manage to clear my head enough to get back to work.

I stay as far away from movies like these as I can. only some make it to my watch list like Sixth Sense, since it’s not gory kinda scary. these other ones… ewwww. why scare myself silly? haha!

G: See. I knew I was going to regret putting that poster there. Now I don’t dare to open the page to reply. Haha. Yeah. I usually stay away from scary movies. As my cousin once put it, movies are for enjoyment, why make yourself scared, worried, or sad?
