Bleach Turns 100!
No, not the liquid bleach. I mean Bleach the anime. After following the saga of Kurosaki Ichigo and friends for nearly two years, they’ve finally reached episode 100. The original version of the anime screens weekly in Japan. The fansubbed version usually follows quickly on its heels.
The first 50 episodes of Bleach recounted how Ichigo became a death god and his quest into soul society to rescue Kuchiki Rukia. That story line was kick ass awesome. However, the next fifty episodes up to now have been fillers about the Bound, the anime’s version of Vampires, and their efforts to destroy soul society. I call them fillers because they are mindnumbingly dull.
And they are sort of a ripoff as well. Watch the episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho after they’ve won the dark tournament and you’ll notice the immediate similarities. Yu Yu Hakusho runs a short filler on new abilities emerging within the human world and has Genkai teaching the team about these new abilities by putting them in danger, kidnapping one of them and forcing Yu Yu Hakusho to identify who the fake is, all with the help of three new characters. Bleach does the exact same thing where Urahara Kisuke schools Ichigo and gang about the Bound with the help of three modified souls. That short filler climaxes with the modified souls kidnapping one of Ichigo’s friends and forcing the team to identify who the imposter is. See the similiarities?
At least the episodes are coming out at a frequent rate of an episode every other week. Unlike Initial D which took months between fansub episodes.
At any rate, when captain Aizen left soul society, it was said that it would take at least a year before he manages to unseal and discover the secrets of Hollow/death god whatchamacallit. Well, it’s 50 episodes down the line. That means nearly a year has passed. So the next obvious move would be to just get on with the Captain Aizen storyline. But then again, it could just as easily go the way of the Naruto and run 100 more filler episodes.
If you have no freaking idea what I’m rambling on about, then head over to Bleach Portal and read the Episode Summary. Better yet, download the full anime episodes via Direct Download or Bittorrent.
If you’re wondering why it is that such a hot anime is not listed on AnimeSuki, it’s because Bleach was licensed almost a year back. An english dubbed version of the anime is in fact screening. However, we all know that dubbed versions suck. So avoid it like the plague and get the fansubbed version. Just know that it’s licensed. Thankfully, groups such as Dattebayo have continued to translate the episodes. Kudos to the clan.
Anyway, for anime junkies out there who are not already following the series, you should go download and get yourself hooked.

Hey !!! BLEACH !!!!!! you know NEL hates the Bounto fillers, I don’t fancy them, I prefer the way the Manga continues after Kuchiki’s rescue from Soul Society.
I followed Yu Yu Hakusho only up to the 1st Dark Tournament, and never followed thereafter. Is it worth it ?
Another anime I thought would be worth it was Rave Master / Groove Adventure, but the anime only shows barely half or quarter of the full manga story … which pretty much leads the anime to a very very hanging state. Bad Bad Bad !!!
G: I can’t stand the Bounto fillers either. Subsequent storylines for Yu Yu Hakusho are more or less the same as the Dark Tournament. There are three other series after the tournament. The first one is a short filler with the territory power thing. Then there’s Sensui and the dark gate. Finally there’s the tournament for control of demon world (a.k.a. Dark Tourney v2).
