Where Have You Been?

Very good question. The answer is a simple one. I’ve been grinding away at work trying to meet a deadline that effectively ends today. I guess you could call this a quick timeout post.

The last month has been rough. The current release of our product is on an accelerated path. I’m sure many are familiar how this works. Management decides that they want something out the door before Christmas and everyone else has to deliver on it.

Inspite of the deadline, I’ve managed to string together a rather impressive list of holidays and breaks. Going down to Kuantan early last month for a break with friends, a long Deepavali and Hari Raya weekend, a weekend trip up to Genting Highlands, and the list keeps going. If I didn’t know better, I would say that I was just pretending at being busy.

I was chugging along nicely yesterday when the development servers decided to explode on me. Our server room airconditioner was down (as usual) and walking pass the room was similar to walking by a sauna. The end result was that our HP-UX machine overheated. As a preventive measure, the server sent out an over threshold warning and shut itself down.

That literally made my day. Here I was rushing for a deadline and the server crashes without any hope of recovery until the airconds are restored. Talk about irony.

I guess I better get back to work if I’m to meet the end of business day deadline. Hopefully, things will return to normal after this week. I think I need another break. Any suggestions?

    Murphy’s Law!! LOL!!

holidays during festive seasons are always crowded. I think a good relaxation session at home with a few DVDs would be good. and some dimsum too.

G: Maybe I’ll just until the end of the year >.<
