Cool And Unique Wedding Favours

You might be asking what the heck is a wedding favour. Well, it is a small gift or souvenir that the bride and groom presents to the guests as a token of appreciation for attending their wedding ceremony or reception. Call it a door gift if you will.

It is really up to the couple whether or not to present a wedding favour on their big day. Some couples simply forgo the gesture to cut cost. However, the gift itself need not be expensive or elaborate. For most couples, chocolates seems to be the favour of choice. However, choosing unique wedding favors will make the occasion that much more memorable.

I once attended a wedding reception where the bride and groom made copies of their studio photographs. They handed these out together with the wedding invitation. It was a small and inexpensive token (RM0.45 [USD 0.15] for a 4R photo) but it lent the invitation a personal touch. Additionally, it gave their family and friends a photo to add to their albums. Personally, I appreciated the gift as it gave me a glimpse of their happy union.

For those who don’t yet know, I’m getting married. WL and we are in the midst of planning our wedding and a wedding favour is on our check list. I have considered recycling the photograph idea I described above. Or perhaps taking it a step further with a photo glass coasters. But that remains to be seen. While the photo frame has some novelty value to it, I can’t see my friends putting a picture of WL and I on their coffee tables. Chances are, they’ll pop our photo into an album and reuse the frame for their own photos. Not a bad idea in itself but not quite cost effective for us.

There are numerous gift ideas to be found from Wedding Favors. Examples include a heart bottle stopper which comes with a free personalized tag. Useful for those who actually drink but also makes a nifty gift even if for those who don’t.

Having browsed the site, I found several items that I may consider for my own wedding, including the Little Book of Memories: Placecard Holder and Mini Photo Album and Black Tie Affair Mini-Photo Albums. Notice I’m going for the photographs theme.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. How about you? Do you have any nifty ideas on what makes a cool token of appreciation? Share it with me if you don’t mind my nicking it for my own wedding ;)

[…] I’m getting married towards the end of 2007. With that in mind, I’ve decided to see if PPP earnings can’t pay for part of my wedding. For example, it could go a long way in purchasing wedding favours, wines, invitation cards, wedding bands, etc. The possibilities are endless. Not a bad way to go about spending the extra stash methinks. Anyway, that’s a plan for the future. We’ll see how things go when the time comes. […]
