Proton Bonfire

Proton decided to have a bonfire at Damansara Uptown today. Oh wait… it was a Proton car catching fire. My bad.

Normally there would be a picture here to show you the chaos. Unfortunately, I wasn’t carrying my camera around. So, sorry no pictures.

Anyway, the incident happened around 2pm today. My colleagues and I were out for lunch and doing our banking. When we walked into the Maybank branch in Uptown, the skies were clear. When I walked over to AmBank located across the street, the skies were still blue. However, when I came out after paying my bills, I noticed my colleagues gawking at something. That’s when I saw the burning wreckage with a pillar of dark smoke billowing from the flames. The smell of burning rubber filled the air.

Police officers in the area tried their best to control the crowd of nosy passer bys that had gathered along the LDP. I didn’t get close enough to see the plate number (sorry for those lottery punters out there hoping as much). However, some guys that were close enough said it was a Proton that had caught fire. The make and model is unclear. Apparently no one was hurt during the bonfire escapade.

As we were leaving the area, towtrucks had already arrived. The fire department was probably on its way as well. Needless to say, we cleared out before the crowd got any larger. I didn’t fancy breathing in the noxious gases that were being emited. Ah… there goes another clear sunny day. The skies are starting to darken. If they haven’t yet put out the fire, maybe the rain will help… maybe not.
