MATF Has Begun

Just a few quick updates. I just got back from a family vacation to Bangkok about an hour ago. The Air Asia flight landed at 11.30pm and it took us half an hour to collect our luggage and pass customs. By that time, the 2007 Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair (MATF 2007) had already begun.

Shell Script Nuggets: Simulating File Locks

Shell scripts are often run sequentially and there’s usually little reason for synchronisation. However, there are occasions when you might want to run multiple shell scripts where these scripts contend for the same file. In such instances, it is necessary to lock the said file in order to avoid processing out-of-date data or worse, corrupting the file.

MATTA Fair 2007 (I)

For all you travel junkies out there, you’ll be glad to know that MATTA Fair 2007 (I) will be held between 16th to 18th March 2007. Fantasy Sports - Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Pride FC aren’t very popular over here. However, this mixed martial arts (MMA) sports has a large following in other parts of the world. The Ultimate Fighter reality show screened on AXN gave the sports some much needed exposure and visibility.

Digital Mall Grand Opening

Tomorrow, 20th January 2007, Digital Mall in SS14 PJ will see its grand opening. The digital centre in the heart of PJ occupies the lot opposite Jaya Shopping Centre, which previously housed Metro Jaya. While this is the official grand opening, the place has been in operation for about half a year.

MATF Update

The dates are set. It was announced yesterday in a press release by MAS. As predicted, the fair will begin on 31st January 2007. It will go on for a single week, through to 6th February 2007. That’s seven days for holiday makers to plan their holidays and grab the 5,000,000 MAS tickets on offer during the fair period.

Game Console Price Stock Market

There are three serious contenders in the very competitive game console market at the moment - XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and PlayStation 3. A month back, I surveyed the prices in both Singapore and Malaysia. Good news is, the Asian versions of the PS3 and Wii are available. The bad news is, the prices are unstable and subject to the laws of supply and demand.
