The first episode for 2007 (Bleach episode 109) was shown in Japan on 4th January 2007. The raw file appeared on the net a day later. Yesterday, the subbed version was released by Dattebayo. 2007 has officially just been Bleach-ed.

As expected, the episode picks up the lose ends from the Bounto filler story arc. Some recap of the last episodes, a few surprises and some reflections from Ichigo, Rukia and Abara Renji. A closure of sorts for the Bounto series.

The closing credit sequence from previous episodes has been promoted to the opening credits so we can expect a new story arc with episode 110. A nice round number to start a new tangent with.

While I don’t follow the manga, I know that it has progressed pretty far on the Captain Aizen story line. Far enough that the anime should be able to follow in its tracks without overtaking it in the process. Even if it does, I guess they could always fall back on mini fillers focusing on Kon, the modified soul stuffed toy lion or that funky television spirit medium, Don Kanonji. So yeah, expect a new story line next week or so.

In the meantime, you could always revisit the old episodes. My favourites are still the episodes where Ichigo resurfaces to save Kuchiki Rukia and have a final showdown with Kuchiki Byakuya during their first campaign into the Soul Society (Sereitei).
