Digital Mall Grand Opening

Tomorrow, 20th January 2007, Digital Mall in SS14 PJ will see its grand opening. The digital centre in the heart of PJ occupies the lot opposite Jaya Shopping Centre, which previously housed Metro Jaya. While this is the official grand opening, the place has been in operation for about half a year.

ALL I.T.
- ALL I.T. -

The last time I was there was for the ALL I.T. computer hyperstore grand opening on 4th November 2006. Way back then, there were great bargains to be had, RM1 deals, and daily auctions. Among other things, we bought a blue tooth dongle for RM1.00. I admit that it’s been a while. Back then, the mall was relatively quiet when compared to say Low Yatt or Imbi. But that’s understandable since the place was new and few people knew about it.

ALL I.T. is probably the biggest presence in Digital Mall. They occupy the entire third floor. Smaller vendors occupy the lower levels. While the prices are slightly more expensive than KL and Mines (by far the cheapest), it is a convenience for consumers living in that part of the universe. For one, they don’t have to face the traffic jams going into Kuala Lumpur city centre.

Unfortunately, location is also the bane of Digital Mall. SS14 has been and always will be a busy location in PJ. There’s always a mini traffic jam on its crowded main roads due to vehicles waiting for parking or picking up and dropping off passengers. You’ll be hard pressed to find a good parking spot near the mall. Best bet is to park inside the shopping complex carpark and pay the extra couple of dollars instead of rounding the park trying to look for cheap MPPJ lots.

Anyway, back to the grand opening of Digital Mall. It is set to be a grand affair with special performances by Hong Kong artistes Louis Yuen, Edward Mok, and Kenny B. Other events include Lion and Dragon Dance performances, More importantly, there are great bargains for those out to do some shopping. Matter of fact is, these deals are even better than what you’ll get at PIKOM PC Fair.

RM1
- RM1.00 -

For starters, there’s the RM1.00 corner. Limited units of Canon Pixma iP 1200, 512MB pendrives, 1GB Sandisk SD memory cards, 512MB Fun Twist MP3 Players, 50 pieces of Digital M CD-R, Lexcron 4 Port Hubs and A1 Tech Ink Cartridges (refills for Canon and Epson printers) will be sold for RM1, no strings attached. You just have to be the lucky few who are there first. I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on the 1GB SD card for WL’s DELL Axim 51v PDA.

There’s also a Great Deals corner where selected items will be sold at a value buy price. Discounts on the retail value of the items range from between 10% up to 70%. Almost sounds like a clothings boutique sale.

Last but not least, there’s a On The Spot, Name Your Price section. While I’m not sure what exactly this is, I suspect it’s an auction much like the one held by ALL I.T. on its grand opening. Handphones, MP3/MP4 players, Speakers, Printers, Digital Cameras, LCD monitors, they must all go.

So if you find yourself with a little time on your hands this weekend, why not drop by Digital Mall at Seksyen 14 PJ to check things out. Who knows, you might find something of interest.
