I've been using PayPal for several years and they haven't caused me any problems yet. I haven't had my credit card cloned or money stolen. Frankly speaking, it is alot safer than, say, using your credit card at a petrol kiosk or paying for your meal. Physically losing sight of your credit card is worse than divulging the credit card and CCV numbers to a secure service like PayPal.
