American Idol 2007 (Season 6) Final 12

A week late, yes, but still worth a mention nonetheless. This year’s American Idol (season 6) is a mix bag for me. The girls are kicking ass while the guys are more or less sucking at the moment. However, things have been known to change once they kick into gear during the finals. American Idol is as much a popularity contest as it is a talent show. This is evident in last week’s result show where those who should have been eliminated remain while those who deserve a chance have gone home. Anyway, here are your final twelve.

Contestant Age Hometown Eliminated
The Ladies
Gina Glocksen 22 Naperville, Illinois Week 4
Haley Scarnato 24 San Antonio, Texas Week 5
Jordin Sparks 17 Glendale, Arizona American Idol 2007
Lakisha Jones 27 Fort Meade, Maryland Week 9
Melinda Doolittle 29 Brentwood, Tennessee Week 10
Stephanie Edwards 19 Savannah, Georgia Week 2
The Guys
Blake Lewis 25 Bothell, Washington Runner Up
Brandon Rogers 28 North Hollywood, California Week 1
Chris Richardson 22 Chesapeake, Virginia Week 8
Chris Sligh 28 Greenville, South Carolina Week 3
Phil Stacey 29 Jacksonville, Florida Week 8
Sanjaya Malakar 17 Federal Way, Washington Week 6

Lakisha is the American Idol Season 6’s version Aretha Franklin. At the moment, she’s the one to beat. Other notables are Melinda Doolittle and Stephanie Edwards. On the guys front, my favourites are Chris Richardson for being a Geek In The Pink and Blake Lewis for his reggae style.

Sanjaya Malakar should have been sent packing last week instead of Sundance. But as I mentioned earlier, this is as much a popularity contest as anything else. Him with his Paula Abdul like hair (as Simon Cowell puts it) seems to appeal to some of the American population.

So there you go. The top twelve finalists. As the weeks roll on, who will be eliminated and who will become the next American Idol? Only time will tell.

    Go Sanjaya!
I’m impressed with this dude… from zero to a hero! Woop woop!

G: I beg to differ. Still a zero for me. Would be nice to hear him put some strength behind his voice.
