Well, wedding preparations are under way. The date is set, restaurant booked, studio photography paid for. Granted that it’s a long way from done but my mind is turning towards a honeymoon destination. Some place sexy and romantic. Watch enough television and you’ll immediately think of places along the Mediterranean Sea where the beaches are beautiful and the people are gorgeous. Think Greek gods and legend.

Needless to say, there are numerous destinations in the general locale. There’s Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco on the African continent. Then there’s Spain, France (love capital of the world), Monaco, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Greece, and Turkey. And then there’s always Cyprus.

According to the brochures, it’s a beautiful place to visit. It’s not all just about the beaches. There are also some interesting sites to visit in the interiors, away from the sun-kissed sands. Greek Orthodox churches, old wine producing villages with winding streets and terraced vineyards, just to name a few. It’s the place where Aphrodite was born, emerging from the sea foam in ancient times at a place called Petra tou Romiou. When looking for romance, you just can’t beat the goddess of love, beauty and fertility.

Regardless of the season, be it under the sizzling heat of summer, warm and sunny fall, cool months of Mediterranean winter, or the blooming colours of spring, there’s always something to do and see in Cyprus. I can just imagine WL and myself on a Cyprus Holidays. Or maybe include it as a destination of an European tour. What do you think? Worth a visit?
