After last night’s result show, the stage is now set for the grand finale to this season’s American Idol. After the preliminary auditions and 10 weeks of eliminations, we’re finally down to two performers; Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks.

The results last night came as a surprise. As Ryan Seacrest puts it so elegantly, America has voted and Melinda, who has come a long way from a backup singer to a rising star, has gone home. I can’t say that I’m not disappointed. I was expecting Melinda Doolittle, the most consistent idol, to have been one of the finalists.

Regardless, the limelight is now on 17 year old Jordin Sparks, and the risk taking beat boxer Blake Lewis. Personally, I’m rooting for Blake Lewis. Hopefully he doesn’t overdo the beat boxing. While it is unique, it has gotten a little old for me. He’s done it once too often and it sounds almost the same everytime (not that I’ve done any analysis on this claim). But hey, that’s just me. As for Jordin… I like her and all but I don’t know. Good luck, I guess.

Who will take home the crown? We’ll find out next week in a two hour concert on Tuesday (or Wednesday in this parts of the world) followed by a 2-hour grand finale results show on Wednesday (read: Thursday our time).
