July Is Harry Potter Month
Not quite sure what I mean? Well, for those of you who’ve been under a coconut shell all this while, July will see two important dates in the Harry Potter franchise.
The Movie
The first is the release of the fifth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint will reprise their roles as the lead characters of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley respectively. In the previous movie, we saw Lord Voldemort being brought back to life and threatening the wizard world. What adventures await our young hero? Well, read the book to find out or wait for the movie.
Personally, the fifth book of the Harry Potter series, penned by J.K. Rowling, was by far the darkest of the lot. Let’s see if this fifth movie will stay true to the novel it is based upon. More importantly, let’s hope it’s not as big a let down as the previous two movie adaptations. The movie will premiere on 11th July 2007. Malaysians get an earlier peek on 10th July 2007.
The Book
The second major event (and the more important one) is the release of the final installment of the Harry Potter series. Book seven, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be in stores on 7th July 2007. However, the book will only reach the shores of Malaysia on 21st July 2007. No doubt that a softcopy will appear in cyberspace long before then, but that’s just piracy for you. It’s been two years since reading the Halfblood Prince and I’ve been anticipating this final book. I’m sure the same goes for the millions of Potter fans worldwide.
If you haven’t yet pre-ordered the book, you can do so at any of the major bookstores.
So yeah, July is Harry Potter month for these two major events. Stay tuned, look forward to it, and hold on for the ride.
