Cooking Gas Price Increase And Other Inflations

Next month, the price of a 15kg tank of cooking gas will increase. Word on the street is that prices will go up by as much as RM10.00. Consumers will have to pay RM35.50 for a tank instead of the previous retail price of RM25.50. That’s a rather hefty 39% inflation! The price hike is in line with skyrocketing crude oil prices. World crude oil prices have hit an all time high of USD93.00 per barrel.

On The Wii Hunt

Finally managed to convince WL to allow me to purchase a Nintendo Wii. Headed over to Sungai Wang last over the weekend with a wedge of cash in the back pocket, looking for a unit. The hunt ended rather abruptly when they shop owner informed me that the new batch of Wii from Nintendo comes with a new motherboard and couldn’t be mod.

Anime: Claymore

Claymore is set in a alternate world that is plagued by creatures called Yoma. There exists an organisation that creates and trains half human half Youma female warriors who specialises in hunting down and destroying these creatures. These fierce female warriors have Yoma flesh and blood implanted into their bodies and are identifiable by their distinct silver eyes and the claymores, large double handed swords, that they carry into battle. It is this weapon of choice that lend them their call name.

Astro Channel Renumbering

For the past month or so, Astro has been broadcasting their plans to restructure the channel numbering. As of 1st October 2007, they’ve rolled over into the new numbering schema. I personally think it is screwed up and they could have done a better job. Granted that this feeling could just be a transition and tomorrow I might wake up enlightened, but as of this moment in time, I would really like to throttle the idiot who came up with the channel numbers.

Bank Employee Picket

The National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) Malaysia are holding a protest in front of the Maybank branch in Damansara Uptown. The subject of the picket is the salary increment of non-clerical, clerical and special grade clerical staff that the union represents. Note that the protest is against all banks and not just Maybank alone.
