On The Wii Hunt
Finally managed to convince WL to allow me to purchase a Nintendo Wii. Headed over to Sungai Wang last over the weekend with a wedge of cash in the back pocket, looking for a unit. The hunt ended rather abruptly when they shop owner informed me that the new batch of Wii from Nintendo comes with a new motherboard and couldn’t be mod.
The sad thing about the new batch of Wii is that the prices have also gone back up. Prior to the new version, fully modified Wii consoles from Japan cost about RM900.00 while units imported from US were going for RM1200.00. With the new release, the prices remain the same but minus the modifications which usually cost about RM300.00 if you do it separately.
New mod chips are expected to be available for the new Wii in time for Christmas. But that means the whole price wars thing will start over again. I’m tempted to buy the unmodified Wii console but knowing me, I’ll waste loads of money on games that I won’t enjoy. I’m the sort that can’t decide whether I like a game until I’ve played it for several hours. Reading reviews and taking a game for a five minute test drive at the shop just won’t cut it.
At this rate, I probably won’t get a unit until early next year.

Risky move. The games should come first before u even consider the console. Reading review is a good move but it won’t guarantee the same satisfaction the author is experiencing. Well, if u have any favorite series/anime/sports … anything, only then the review will make sense. :) Just my 2 cents …
G Let’s just say that I bought into the whole Wii concept ever since I played Wario Ware on the GBA and long before the Wii was called the Wii. So yeah. The console came first :)

G: I do buy original. Just the trial bit and the home brews that making me consider the mod.
