There’s a new kid on the image hosting block. PicsPay.com is a gig that not only hosts images for free but also promises to pay its users. They have a PicsPoint system whereby users earn credit for image views. Users can convert their PicsPoints and cash out once they’ve reached the required minimum value.

It’s obvious how the system works. PicsPay.com earns a profit from site traffic driven by its users and advertising. In return, they payout a percentage of their profits to their users. A win win situation for all parties involved.

In addition to earning PicsPoints via image views, members can also gain PicsPoints by recommending their friends and visitors to their site via a referral link or through their registered website. The referral program will pay the equivalent of 10% of all future PicsPoints earnings from members recommended by the referee (Note: The referred member will continue to earn their full credit. The 10% extra points is a referral fee paid by PicsPay.com).

Interestingly enough, I managed to refer a friend to the site. He’s been earning a crazy amount of points from the program (over 100k views!) and I’ve profited from it. So it’s not that far fetched to eke a small income from the service.

The site is relatively simple to use. They are currently still in Beta testing so there might be glitches on and off as they tweak the system. Basic functionality wise, everything seems stable. Some improvements and features that I would like to see:

• Watermark uploaded images
• Function to download all my uploaded images
• A better image gallery for browsing my uploaded images
• Image search function
• Anti leeching function (to prevent my post and images being stolen wholesale)

I’ve sent them my feedback. I’ll give them a while more and see how things develop. Besides, it’s nice not to have to host my own images.
