Civilization Wars is a custom Warcraft 3 map created by Dangine and based on the Civilization turn based classic strategy game by Sid Meier. A new version (2.09) was released on 2nd December 2007 2008 (Edit: lol x 2) 2009 (Edit: lol).

This custom map is a fun one to play. The game is played with two balanced teams of three members each (either 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3) in a line war type gameplay (similar and yet different to custom Warcraft 3 maps such as Tech Wars and Castle Fight). The objective is to destroy the enemy team’s camp. This is achived by building various unit spawning structures, researching technology, and managing a strong economy to finance your campaign. The key is to strike a balance between these three factors much like the Civilization series on which the custom map is based.

There was introduced in v2.08 along with an intended game feature. The bug was exploited by players to spam multiple building and income spawning structures. As more and more people learned about the bug, it really screwed up the game. You could say that the number of people exploiting the bug really ruined the game for many fans. Fingers crossed that the 2.09 release fixes this fault without introducing new ones. You can read up on updates and bugs on the Civilization Wars forums.
