Jogoya Japanese Buffet Overbooked

Since Jogoya’s 2nd anniversary offer was announced a couple of weeks back, their front office phone has been ringing off the hook. The Japanese buffet restaurant has been pretty much overbooked for the weekdays (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays) throughout the period when the promotion is effect (up till 18th December 2007). Chances are if you try to make a reservation now, you’ll be turned down, placed on a long waiting list, or worse, ignored.

If you manage to get through the busy lines and you’re lucky, a friendly voice might respond to tell you Jogoya is overbooked. Otherwise, the only thing you’ll be greeted with is the ringing or engaged tone. Due to the overwhelming demand, the reception has more or less stopped picking up reservation calls. Frankly speaking, I don’t blame them. Imagine picking up a call only to have to turn down the prospective client due to a packed restaurant and then having to explain to them why you can’t take their reservation.

Jogoya has always had brisk business. Even without the offer, the restaurant is usually full. You could say that the 50% discount offered to lady patrons and the promotional king prawn cuisine is the tipping factor. The ladies, especially, are having a field day. Paying slightly under RM40 for a high end Japanese buffet spread is a steal when you compare it with other Japanese buffets in the general vicinity such as Ichiban, Saisaki and Shin-NiChi. If Jogoya wasn’t already overbooked, the other Japanese buffet restaurants will definitely be cursing them for stealing their business.

For those who were fast (and lucky) enough to get a reservation, congrats. For the rest, stay tuned. Who knows, Jogoya may just extend the promotion due to popular demand as a sign of appreciation to its loyal patrons.
