Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Travel Fair 2008 (MATF08)
Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair 2008 (MATF 2008) is once again just around the corner. This annual affair brings the best offers by Malaysia Airlines. The offers includes both air fares on MAS flights and their Golden Holidays travel packages which covers ground tours. This year will be held between 22nd February 2008 and 24 February 2008. Tickets purchased during the MATF08 period are valid for travel between 01 March 2008 and 30 September 2008.
Unlike last year’s fair which was run online in a paperless format, MATF08 sees a throwback to the original with a physical venue. There will be six venues nationwide. They are:
- Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
- Persada Johor International Convention Centre
- Terengganu Trade Centre
- Penang International Sports Arena
- Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu
- Permata Exhibition Centre, Kuching
Visitors to MATF08 will be charged an entrance fee of RM2.00 for a single day access (following MATTA Fair which charges RM3.00). While it is nice to have a more personal conversation with exhibitors at a fair, having to pay the entry fee is a minus. Despite the entrance fee, I’m sure the fair grounds will still be crowded with bargain hunters.
For those who can’t make it to one of the six venues nation wide, all is not lost. You can still make reservations online via Malaysia Airlines, or by calling any of MAS’ ticket offices or MAS’ hotline (1300 88 3000).
I myself am interested in flying down to Sydney Australia. Hopefully the tickets are going for cheap. Last I checked, Air Asia was offering tickets to Brisbane for as low as RM155.00 one way before tax and fuel surcharge. I doubt that MAS can offer such pricing. MAS is selling their service while Air Asia is just selling fuel. I guess it’s a trade off. Do I want to travel in relative comfort or on a budget. It is an 8 hour flight but the cost savings may be in the thousands!
Anyway, to bargain hunters everywhere, good luck!

Hi, for those who’s waiting to go to the designated place to buy tickets tomorrow, I suggest you don’t have to wait till tomorrow and get stuffed with the crowd as you are able to book online via www.mas.com.my.
I just booked my flights via the website. I got the MATF fair RATE !!! So better book quick before seats runs out !
G: Yeah. That is actually a very good point. The travel fair has also officially started so the site should be fairly congested already…
