You might be wondering why there’s a second PIKOM PC Fair when the first one for 2008 was held about a month back. This time around, it is actually a mini PC Fair International organised by PIKOM in conjunction with WCIT 2008 (16th World Congress on Information Technology) and PIKOM PS3 2008 (PIKOM Software & Services Showcase 2008) exhibitions being held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The number of exhibitors for the PIKOM PC Fair International are very limited, centred mainly on the theme of photography and camera equipment. It’s more like a camera exhibition to catch the attention of international visitors who are here to attend the WCIT and PS3 events. If you’re thinking to make up for missing the thrice annual PC Fair, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

WCIT and PS3 will be held from 19th May 2008 to 21st May 2008 while the PC Fair International opens a day earlier on 18th May 2008. If you’re curious to check out the PC Fair nonetheless, I suggest doing so on Sunday as KLCC will be congested with delegates from all over the world.

WCIT is a major global event while PS3 is an annual PIKOM event. The former will be attracting a large crowd of participants. Both are jointly organised with MDeC (Multimedia Development Corporation). For more information, visit the respective websites.

Entry to WCIT by invitate and pre-registration only. Unfortunately, pre-registration for the events are closed, although you can still register for the PS3 event onsite. If you were thinking of heading to KLCC over the weekday holiday (19th May 2008 is Wesak day and a public holiday for Selangor) to do some shopping, I suggest against it. Traffic will be congested around the KLCC area and parking will be difficult with so many exhibitions ongoing concurrently.
