Australian Vacation 2009: Overview

So it’s been about a week since we returned from our great Australian escapade. I figure it’s about time I get around to writing down the interesting bits about our vacation. The trip was about 6 months in the making before we finally began our trip on the night of 10 July 2009. The vacation nearly didn’t take off due to the worldwide Influenza AH1N1 (or more commonly known as Swine Flu) scare. After much debate and plenty of last minute calls, we finally decided to go for it. This is a rough outline of our itinerary and will serve as a reminder and a guide.

Day 00 10 July (Frid) Red Eye to Australia
Day 01 11 July (Sat) Perth - Touch Down Fremantle
Day 02 12 July (Sun) Perth - The Pinnacles
Day 03 13 July (Mon) Perth - Perth City & Fremantle Revisited
Day 04 14 July (Tue) Sydney - Touch Down, Recoup
Day 05 15 July (Wed) Sydney - Factory Shopping & Moving House?
Day 06 16 July (Thu) Sydney - City Walkabout & The Opera House
Day 07 17 July (Fri) Sydney - Lost In The City
Day 08 18 July (Sat) Sydney - Blue Mountains
Day 09 19 July (Sun) The Grand Pacific Drive
Day 10 20 July (Mon) Snowy Mountains - Perisher
Day 11 21 July (Tue) Snowy Mountains - Blue Cows
Day 12 22 July (Wed) Canberra - How Boring
Day 13 23 July (Thu) Melbourne - Touch Down, Family Dinner
Day 14 24 July (Fri) Melbourne - Fast & Furious
Day 15 25 July (Sat) Melbourne - Friends, Wii & Couch Potato
Day 16 26 July (Sun) Melbourne - The City
Day 17 27 July (Mon) Goodbye Australia

This is the longest vacation WL and I have been on. It had plenty of ups and downs but hands down the best we’ve had. 17 days, 1 Continent, 4 States. That’s our Australian adventure. More to follow with photos as soon as we’ve processed them.

That sounds like it was an amazing trip. I’d love to get down to Australia one day. 17 days, I bet you were really able to enjoy your vacation.
