Cabbage Soup Diet: Results & Notes

It’s over. I’ve held my will and stuck with the diet over the last seven days and have the results to show for it. My colleagues and I were talking about it on the last day when I told them the preliminary results of the weigh in on day six. Needless to say, we were all very pleasantly surprised and a colleague of mine was encouraged to go on the diet as well.

Cabbage Soup Diet: Day 7 - Soup, Brown Rice, Fruit Juice & Vegetables

Day 7 of the Cabbage Soup Diet. Final Day. Finally! It’s been a long week but it’s finally coming to an end. It’s gotten to a point where the soup’s tough to swallow and I gag at the very smell. Brown rice on this day so there’s plenty of energy.

Cabbage Soup Diet: Day 6 - Soup, Beef & Vegetables

Steak! Steak! Steak! I have been looking forward to this day. As the eating plan suggests, I had several beef steaks today. The first one was a grilled sirloin steak (hold the fries and served with fresh salad greens minus dressing) with colleagues over lunch. This was very much unplanned as I was actually thinking of having vegetables from the economy rice stall for lunch but my colleagues opted for western food instead

Cabbage Soup Diet: Day 5 - Soup, Beef & Tomatoes

Busy day today. Almost missed publishing this entry of my cabbage soup diet journal. Today’s beef and tomatoes day. You could say that from before the start of this diet, this was the day I have been looking forward to. The joke with my colleague was that we would start our diet over the weekend so we could all go out for a steak lunch on either day five or six. Decided to home cook today and have that steak on day six.

Cabbage Soup Diet: Day 4 - Soup, Skim Milk & Bananas

I’m just about sick of the soup. Going to have to find ways to change up the flavour. Day four is bananas and milk. First thought was, “Uh oh! I’m going to be visiting the toilet a lot today”. I’m not lactose intolerant or anything but milk does help the process along. I wasn’t that far wrong. Bowel movements ahoy!

Cabbage Soup Diet: Day 3 - Soup, Vegetables & Fruits

Day three was definitely better. Body got used to the lack of calories. That was until I decided to attend a Body Pump class at gym. After that, all hell broke lose. I managed to get pass the warm up, thigh and chest tracks before fatigue set in and I started seeing stars. The rest of the class was spent lying down and recovering. Maybe should have done this during day two when there was the baked potato.

Cabbage Soup Diet: Day 2 - Soup, Vegetables & A Baked Potato Reward

Day two of the diet and I was really feeling the drain. The lack of carbs and real calories was taking its toll. The good news was that the body was starting to adjust. It was actually easier to bear with the hunger.

Cabbage Soup Diet: Day 1 - Soup & Fruits

I would place going from a high carb diet to only eating fruits and drinking cabbage soup in my top 10 list of hard things to do. This day was a real struggle. It didn’t help that my sinuses were acting up or that we were out shopping for half the day. I didn’t prepare the night before so we were also doing our groceries to buy the ingredients for the soup along with the supplements of fruits and vegetables. Going back through the groceries, I just realised that the diet’s not cheap either!

Cabbage Soup Diet - 7 Day Eating Plan

Was going through the cabbage soup recipe ingredients and it looked a whole lot like a variant of the local ABC soup (just minus the potatoes and toss in the cabbage, celery, capsicum and mushrooms). I took my liberty on the recipe and a variation instead (see below). The soup itself is just one part of the diet. The other part is the 7 day eating plan.

Cabbage Soup Diet - Cabbage Soup Recipe

Some colleagues and I are planning to start on a 1 week diet called the Cabbage Soup Diet. You’re supposed to be able to lose up to 10 pounds by following the diet for 7 days. Initial plan was to kick it off tomorrow (Friday 11 September 2009) but I had to delay it by a day. I’m the project manager for the diet and we’ll encourage each other through the course of the week. If you’re curious and would like to join in, feel free to start along with us. To start, you’ll need the following Cabbage Soup Recipe.
