Went for a Body Pump (Multilevel) class on Sunday with WL at California Fitness in Mid Valley. I’m glad to announce that I felt like crap when I woke up this morning.
Most companies require their new staff to undergo a medical examination prior to confirming their hire. My current company is no different in that sense, except for the fact that I did mine after starting work. I’ve been three weeks with this company and just returned from a visit to the clinic across the street to get the formalities over and done with.

Alrighty then! Steps classes have finally resumed for the year 2006 and boy does it feel good to be back on the Steps board. I went for a Steps class last week but that doesn’t count cause it was with Nicholas and (although I don’t want to admit it) I got totally lost (well almost). I manage to follow most of his “beginners” class but was later told by Arjiete that Nicholas’ classes wasn’t really beginners. More like somewhere in between beginners and intermediate. No wonder…

The weekly Yoga class that I go to at California Fitness has changed its schedule. Due to ‘overwhelming’ requests for mind and body type classes (Yoga, Pilate, Body Balance) at 7.40pm on weekdays, they have changed the 9.40pm Yoga class on Wednesday to 7.40pm. Frankly speaking I think that wanting at “7.40pm on weekdays” is a stupid excuse for changing the schedule. Lazy buggers can’t even stay till 8.40pm to attend the Yoga class. No commitment whatsoever. Need the class to come to them. But that’s really besides the point.

In my efforts to maintain a balanced and healthy life, I am now making it a point to attend Yoga classes. Consider it a New Year’s resolution on top of those that I had made earlier. Now, I’m neither a very flexible bloke, nor am I very active one. Given the choice, I rather lie flat on my back rather than bend myself out of shape (hence one of my favourite poses in Yoga is the Corpse’s pose, where you lie on the floor like so much dead weight :D). So why then is Yoga beneficial for me (and everyone else for that matter)?

Today, I totally overslept. Partially due to getting back late last night, partially due to sleeping even later (imsomnia, maybe), and partially due to my alarm not going off (the time had changed due to a flat battery). I have an accurate (usually) biological clock. My body has been conditioned to wake up at a certain time no matter what day it is or how tired I am. This is evident on weekends when I sit upright in bed at 7.30 wondering what day it is before realising it was a Saturday and thinking why it was that I had gotten up. Why then had my internal clock decided to call it a day?

WL and I were at Menara Standard Chartered again yesterday night. Aaron signed us up for a one day free trial with a Fit Start program complete with a peronal trainer for each of us. We got in at 8pm. Prior to that, while we were walking from KLCC to California Fitness, I received a follow-up call from Law Pei Pei. It was a pleasant surprise, that she would take the time and effort to give us a call to see what we’ve decided. Good on her.
Over the weekend, I paid visits to both the California Fitness centres in Menara Standard Chartered and MidValley Mall. The reason was to have a look around and to enquire about the packages that they have to offer in order to help WL and I decide whether or not we would sign up. From the three walk-ins I made, this is what I found out…
