Jogoya Japanese Buffet Overbooked

Since Jogoya’s 2nd anniversary offer was announced a couple of weeks back, their front office phone has been ringing off the hook. The Japanese buffet restaurant has been pretty much overbooked for the weekdays (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays) throughout the period when the promotion is effect (up till 18th December 2007). Chances are if you try to make a reservation now, you’ll be turned down, placed on a long waiting list, or worse, ignored.

Restoran Yu Ai - Seafood Noodles

As far as seafood noodles are concerned, I’ve never been a great fan. However, there is one particular seafood noodle shop that I’ll happily go to. That is Restoran Yu Ai located in Segambut. A friend of mine first introduced the place to me nearly a decade ago and I’ve been frequenting it on and off ever since.

Oh Sushi @ MidValley

This is actually a little old. WL and I went to Oh Sushi a while back, before they changed their external decor (again). It was after our usual weekend gym session and we were starved. Since we were feeling spendthrift that day, we decided on Japanese. There are quite a number of Japanese restaurants inside Mid Valley Mega Mall. Oh Sushi was one of the few that we haven’t yet tried.

Purple Cane Moon Cakes

Mid Autumn Festival is just around the corner. Some know it as the Lantern Festival for the lanterns that are lit during its celebration. Others refer to it as the Mooncake Festival for the round moon cake delicacies that are usually given to friends and relatives when visiting during the festival as an expression of best wishes and blessing of abundance. Regardless of what it is called, the festival is a goldmine for moon cake makers. So much so that Purple Cane, a brand popularly known for ‘Tea’, has introduced its own line of tea flavoured mooncakes.

Restoran Kin Kin - Spicy Pan Mee

This one’s for spicy food lovers everywhere. If you’re into burning your innards and peeing acid, then you can’t go wrong with the spicy pan mee (ban mien/board noodles) at Restoran Kin Kin. To get there, go along Jalan Chow Kit. The restaurant is located on the backstreet off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. Take a left turn at Pizza Hut followed by a right. You’ll see a nondescript shop at the end of the road marked by a bright yellow signboard.

Tasty Hotpot Restaurant - The Other Steamboat Place

As mentioned in an earlier post, there were actually TWO steamboat restaurants in Seri Petaling that offered porridge as a base. After a short break from steamboats, we finally found occasion to make another trip to Sri Petaling when my cousin visited from Australia. Strangely enough, it was once again raining which is essentially ideal weather.

Eastern Delight - Porridge Steamboat

Porridge based steamboat has become all the craze recently. I liked Farmland Steamboat in Pudu. Since then, I’ve heard of various other places offering something similar. There’s the one in Kelana Jaya recommended by one of the readers which we have yet to try. And then of course, there’s the porridge steamboat in Seri Petaling. I’ve heard about it so often, about how it’s better than Farmland and all that. When the opportunity arrived on a wet rainy evening, WL and I took the check the area out. The problem was, we neither knew the restaurant’s location was nor its name. Strange that inspite of all the hype, no one has ever mentioned the name to us.
