So it’s been about a week since we returned from our great Australian escapade. I figure it’s about time I get around to writing down the interesting bits about our vacation. The trip was about 6 months in the making before we finally began our trip on the night of 10 July 2009. The vacation nearly didn’t take off due to the worldwide Influenza AH1N1 (or more commonly known as Swine Flu) scare. After much debate and plenty of last minute calls, we finally decided to go for it. This is a rough outline of our itinerary and will serve as a reminder and a guide.

We are planning an Australian trip in Winter through Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and everything in between. We’ve settled the return flights to Australia; flying in at Perth on AirAsia and flying back from Melbourne on MAS. One important factor is the internal connections between the different internal destinations. I’ve been keeping a lookout for cheap internal flights and it’s finally paid off. Many of the Australian airlines (Qantas, Virgin Blue, Jetstar, Tiger Airways) are having a promotion between 27th February 2009 through to 2nd March 2009. If you don’t already know, Malaysia Airlines is currently holding a global online sales promotion. The sales will be held through a three day period between 10th and 12th November 2008. Up to 1,000,000 low fare seats will be made available to 26 of MAS’ global destinations. Travel period is valid through to 30th September 2009.

As the title reads, Air Asia now flies direct to three new destinations. As part of the launch, Air Asia will be offering flights to these destination at a discounted introductory price. Between 12 March 2008 to 19 March 2008, bargain hunters can reserve seats on these flights from as low as RM29.99 (Haikou) and RM49.99 (Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City).

For those who are interested to know what’s on offer during Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair 2008 (MATF 08), here are the promotional rates from MAS for return economy class seats to various destinations across the globe. The cost of the return ticket is basically double that of the promotion single way economy class fares published earlier. Well, they do give you an RM8.00 discount off the overall fare. Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair 2008 (MATF 2008) is once again just around the corner. This annual affair brings the best offers by Malaysia Airlines. The offers includes both air fares on MAS flights and their Golden Holidays travel packages which covers ground tours. This year will be held between 22nd February 2008 and 24 February 2008. Tickets purchased during the MATF08 period are valid for travel between 01 March 2008 and 30 September 2008.
