Don’t bother watching Solomon Kane in the cinemas. The trailer was it. Anything interesting about the movie was contained in that short clip. Everything else was just bad story telling and a hodge podge of effects stolen from different movies of the same genre. About the only thing that looked remotely interesting was the fire demon (now, where have I seen that guy before?). If not for the fact that nothing else interesting was showing at the local cineplex, I would have listened to my initial instincts and shied away from catching Solomon Kane on the silver screen.

Yuck… Some fun fight scenes but drags out too much. Some guys just refuse to die. If you enjoyed Bodyguards & Assassins (another of Donnie Yen’s movie), then you might enjoy this one. Personally, I liked B&A but didn’t enjoy this one. Favourite scenes from 14 Blades are probably the lighter comedic moments rather than the fight scenes. Watch if you must but I don’t recommend it. Wait for it to pop up on TV3 over and over again during upcoming CNY holidays.
P.S. Damn… Zhao Wei’s looking old, haggard and worn out.

A gazillion points just for premiering the show in Malaysia on 25 February 2010; an auspicious day indeed. Book of Eli is a post apocalyptic movie starring Denzel Washington as Eli, journeying westward carrying the last remaining bible. Along the way, he picks up a companion and kills a bunch of people to protect the holiest of books from the bad guys who wants to take it for their own gains. That’s about all there is to the plot. Short, simple, and engaging in the telling. The show’s a good watch.

Meh… I personally give it a 2.5 (three stars at most). Doesn’t deserve the four stars that most reviews give it. Good for a few laughs just because the script’s really corny. Watch it in the cinemas if you have nothing better to do on a Wednesday afternoon (like me). Otherwise wait for it to pop up on the tele.

Starring Jackie Chan and Wang Lee Hom. Watch Little Big Soldier for a good laugh. Good action, good comedy, slows down a little in the middle, then picks back up again. There are some odd bits here and there that doesn’t quite add up, and some side plots that have absolutely nothing to do with the main plot (or at least it loses me), but overall good fun. A good show to start the new year with. Hands down beats the crap out of Jackie Chan’s latest English movie, The Spy Next Door. Watch it!

… is awesome. Go watch it in 3D Imax. Highly recommended. Just came back from the cinema myself and am considering watching the movie again in all its 3D glory. The story line’s kinda like Pocahontas except in a strange alien planet with giant 10′ blue people in place of native americans. Stunning effects, solid build up, good action. There were predictable parts but otherwise a very entertaining movie. Most expensive movie ever made, what else can you say? A must watch to end 2009 with a bang.

After a month of open exhibitor registration, the final list of venues and dates are up. Literally just around the corner as it’s a week away in some locations. The week of 4th December if you’re in KL. A week earlier than usual which is probably due to the year end December holidays (practically every Friday’s off for the remainder of December!). Here’s the usual list for your perusal and planning.

It’s been a month since I lost the 4kgs after following the Cabbage Soup Diet. When I was reviewing the results of the Cabbage Soup Diet, I had the nasty feeling that I was going to put those pounds back on immediately. Was I right? Was I wrong? Well, today I weighed myself for the first time since the last day of the diet. And the verdict is…

It’s over. I’ve held my will and stuck with the diet over the last seven days and have the results to show for it. My colleagues and I were talking about it on the last day when I told them the preliminary results of the weigh in on day six. Needless to say, we were all very pleasantly surprised and a colleague of mine was encouraged to go on the diet as well.
